Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More

Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More

Blogging Disney has featured the world of Pixie Hollow on three previous occasions.

Tinker Bell

In August 2011, I blogged about the Disney Fairies Magazine and the Disney Fairies Fly mobile app: Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Magazine.

In September 2011, I promoted the TV premiere and home video release of the Pixie Hollow Games movie with links to online games and contests. Pixie Hollow Games, Contests, and More!

And in July 2013, I gave a detailed review of one of my favorite Disney apps: Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique.

Are you surprised there’s so much happening in the tiny, magical world of Peter Pan’s temperamental fairy sidekick? Don’t be!

Introducing the Garden Fairy Chloe, screenshot from disney.go.com/fairies/

Fans of the Disney Fairies franchise have always known the world of Tinker Bell and her friends is more than just movies, magazines and mobile apps: it’s a vast multiplayer online universe where you can create your own fairy avatar, play games, design fashions and interact with thousands of other Tinker Bell fans.

Err, well…it used to be, anyway.

As it happens, Disney shut down the Pixie Hollow online world in September 2013, just two months after I raved about the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app (which I came THISCLOSE to spending real $$$ playing). But on September 19th, Pixie Hollow vanished, and along with it, the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app.

What about Disney Fairies Fly and the Disney Fairies Magazine? Are they still around? Nope. All gone. Poof. It’s as if they never existed.

Of course, Disney can delete Pixie Hollow from the internet and remove the games from the App Store, but my blog posts are still online. I didn’t even know Disney purged the Disney Fairies universe until I received several comments from readers who couldn’t find the Fashion Boutique in the App Store. The comments were from angry Fairies fans who loved the fashion boutique app but couldn’t download it on new devices and were unable to recover the game after accidentally deleting the original download.

Pixie Hollow Closed

As a Fashion Boutique fan, the frustrations of other gamers inspired me to investigate the vanishing app. The internet isn’t always the easiest place to find things that no longer exist, but after a fair amount of Googling, I found an FAQ explaining Disney’s purge of Pixie Hollow and its related apps.

Pixie Hollow FAQ

Unfortunately, the FAQ page is a JPG image, making it inaccessible to screen readers and devices without image support, and the text can’t be read and indexed by search engines. To help the distraught Fairies fans who come to Blogging Disney looking for answers, I’ve copied Disney’s official FAQ below.

There was a girl abducted but I could not fin anything saying she was killed. As far as I am aware she was released.

  2. amy says:

    there is a petition Gaby!
Yes, hello every one. I have got some really bad news that i think it is maybe one of the reasons that P.H has been closed. See, there was a girl that was playing P.H and gave all her personal info.s to a men that was pretending to be a fairy, soon, he kidnapped her then she got killed by his own self!!!! and that may be one of the reasons that P.H shuted down. SECURITY! the men was a killer! a life gone because of a game!! I got shocked when i heard that, i didn’t believe it the first, but then i did and i said i should tell you and i did. So even when P.H reopens don’t forget to be careful to who you have friendship with (hope caution).
So what do you think? Pixie hollow was closed because of:
    1- Security. 2-Buisness. 3-To break our hearts. 4- Other…

    see you later!
P.S my fairy name was ” April Sandcloud”.

  3. Gaby says:

I am still upset over the deletion of this online game. I wish there would be some way to retrieve it back!

  4. Dawn says:

Hope is wonderful if there was any chance of it and “sooner or later” you will come around to the nasty side of reality. If I could be proved wrong and Pixie Hollow did return better than ever I would buy you a new dress and sing your praises from the highest building but……………………

  5. Tiger says:

Oh ticklewhiskers! Why are you such a downer dawn. We should name you downer dawn. Even jazzberry and Rawra who both moved on still have a bit of Hope in them. Yes I have read all the previous posts and they all say how much of a downer you are.

“All you need is faith, trust, and pixie dust” -tinker bell

P.s not trying to be mean or anything. Just saying that you should let us have hope. There is nothing wrong with having hope or losing it. I don’t care if you lost it but let us be us!

    Kind regards

  6. Dawn says:

Tiger you really should read all of the previous posts.

  7. Rawra says:

I played both the online game and the app. Loved them both! I agree with tiger and Amy!!!

  8. Tiger says:

Hey Tess, its me Tiger, I’ve faded over the past 2 years I know xD But anyways, I think it’s best not to lose hope. I know its been almost 3 years now and PH seems long gone, but it isn’t. We can’t lose faith in our favorite game, if we do.. it can never come back, ever. But what we do need to do is not rebel, but start emailing disney and bothering them XD I do this constantly everyday but they haven’t messaged me back, but I know they’re seeing my emails. If everyone else does it, they have no choice but to reopen it and start working on it again :3 I’m serious.

  9. amy says:

wait! how did you sign the petition? i didn’t work for me Jazzberry. anyway i am happy you could.
i will tell you something…you wont believe me but i have some clues that P.H may come back:

-Did you know that Pixie hollow got updated in 2014?! i mean when it was closed!

-The official cite is saving some of the P.H games such as “animal harvest”.

-They never deleted the P.H game. I found that. WHY?

-Pixie Hollow isn’t completely gone! There are some remains of the website! Disney forgot to delete the login page! Isn’t that exciting! I’ve been working on trying to access my fairy because I heard that they never deleted our accounts! Here’s the link: http://a.dolimg.com/pixiehollow/game/# Disney also still has Pixie Hollow’s Home Page! Here’s the link: http://www.disney.ru/fairies/best-official-art-certificate.html P.S if you click games you can still access old games!

-( just to know that someone has already sended a letter to get back the P.H like this:” Dear Disney, I was one of your biggest fans of Pixie Hollow and I was so disappointed when you removed it from the web. So many of your former pixies have been trying so hard to recreate their favorite website. Please don’t be mad at them though. Also so many fans haven’t given up hope to see their favorite website again. They have been searching for as many clues as they could about the reopening of their favorite website. Finally so many fairies had blogs about Pixie Hollow but did they get rid of it… no. They decided to stay loyal to their favorite website and help others stay loyal to. So I guess what I’m trying to ask is will you be opening Pixie Hollow some day? Or at least put Pixie Hollow’s games on http://fairies.disney.com/ because the firefly game where you had to light them up was my favorite game and I loved to play it. Please send me an email back!
    From,
    One of Your Loyalist Pixies
    Aly a.k.a ________________________
P.S If you closed down pixie hollow because people repeatedly complained about the update, we’re sorry
P.P.S Can you let me know if you deleted all of our accounts because I loved my fairy and we were very far in the game”).

-i saul this too: “Attention fairies and sparrow of Pixie Hollow! We all love Pixie Hollow and we support Pixie Hollow. Sadly Pixie Hollow closed. I heard many fairies and sparrow men say that it’s closing forever or it will come back, but that’s a rumor. We’re not sure, and if you ask Pixie Hollow they will answer that they are not sure. What I’m trying to say here is that forever is a hard word. Pixie Hollow is in Neverland and what is in Neverland? The word never! The word never in their perspective is never letting people down. Pixie Hollow will not let their fans down. It is not a word used for “it’s never coming back” it’s used for it’s never letting us down. Pixie Hollow doesn’t turn people down, they don’t only care about the money, what they mostly care about is making us happy. They will come back to make us happy… probably. They need the money also. The reason why they care about the money so much is so they can keep Pixie Hollow running on forever and make us happy. They care if we’re happy.” I think she is right.

So never give up, yes, i said NEVER. and as we know : Faith+Trust+Pixie dust.

thats all for today, and i will give you new news about it soon. good bye! 😉

(P.S holly i have the same story as yours, but only i was forced to let pixie hollow because of school not exactly like yours but like it. OH, i am a chatter box, good bye!)

  10. amy says:

i watched that video already, so do you believe it?!
thanks for signing the petition Jazzberry! 😀
i watched other videos like: “Pixie hollow is using us” … you have to watch that, i don’t know if its true but i think it is. i also watched: “Cinderella” (it was the pixie hollow Cinderella. Very good), “the last minutes of P.H”, “pixie hollow memories”…and i watched many videos saying that pixie hollow is coming back. You should watch them. Did you know that their are still saving the P.H online game? I knew that from a video on YouTube.
I have to sleep to go to school now, so bye to every one and thanks for every one who signed in the petition!

  11. Jazzberry says:

Everyone there is a video by rarefairyraindrop that says “what happened to pixie hollow right before it closed” I encouroge you to watch it. It made me cry! It’s on YouTube!!!

  12. Holly says:

I really miss pixie hollow, one day I just stopped playing it for ages, and I felt like playing it again, so I went onto the website and it wasn’t there!!!!!!! 🙁

  13. Jazzberry says:

Great idea Amy! I signed the pition. I really hope it works but I doubt it… I hope in due time they will bring it back. But until then I’m just going to enjoy my life in the real world. Pixie hollow will always be in my heart and I’m glad I found some of my friends ingame and met them in real life. Now we are real friends:) I wish you all the best and hope you heal in time… For now all we can do is sign petitions I guess…

  14. amy says:

wow! i mean WAW! Jazberry or what ever your name is, you really are wise, such as Down and Rawra.
i think you are right, maybe we can just stay telling what was it like in the pixie hollow. Come on guys/girls ! it would be FUN to listen to each one of us stories and what happend to us as memories of the unforgettable world PIXIE HOLLOW!
like my openion? lets do it, i will LOVE this! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! lets begain.
but before that, i wanted to say to Noimie that hope is there, there are petitins to save pixie hollow, i did one on “Care 2”. i hope it works, cause we need 1000 signes to reach it.
by the way (because im a verrry courius girl) i have seen a site that was like a new P.H, but it was strange.
First, the name was BPF, or BFP, or something like that in a holloween color wich has a photo of T.B (tinkerbell) with her little insect next to it. I know but i thougt that only disney has rights to use the pictures. i also have this link that i didnt use it but i will now… please wait…Ok, maybe later.
    the link is : https://www.change.org/p/the-walt-disney-company-stop-the-shut-dawn-of-Pixie-hollow/u/4606805

hope you enjoy your day! bye!

I am now 18 years old. PH shut down when i was 15 and I’m still dwelling over it. Guys, i believe it’s time that we all grow up and move on. I was a sophmore in high school at the time and now im in my second semester in college. Let’s go guys.

  16. Dawn says:

My fellow Fairies some of you may not like me because I don’t lend myself to pie in the sky dreaming about Pixie Hollow returning. I have read up on Disney and they are not given to reversing business decisions “ever”. Nothing and I mean nothing would please me more to be wrong and PH returns but I can’t see it ever happening with Disney…… perhaps some second hand hackers might bring it back but it never be equal to our Pixie Hollow. If our beloved Hollow did come back I would the first here to chow down on a massive plate of crow and believe me I would love every bite. I had the pleasure of signing on to Pixie Hollow in July 2008 and was there til the very end while a few only had a year or two before it was gone. In June 2013 I was on a pilot project as a temp moderator as Disney wanted to involve some of the Founding Fairies to help the newer and younger Fairies and to help keep the Hollow civil which I will add was a very tough job and I have the deepest respect for all of the paid moderators who helped me as it was a thankless job.
We all should talk about our time in the Hollow and remember the good times so that we can move on in our lives.

  17. Rawra says:

I agree with jazzberry. i did the same and it worked! I will truley miss it but…. What can we do? It’s business!

  18. jazzberry says:

    b

  19. jazzberry says:

“you know what they say about hope, it breeds eternal misery” -spencer Hastings

“let it goo let it goooooo” Elsa

    take a hint!

as much as we love PH we have to let go otherwise our hearts will be frozen forever! dawn and Disney blogger are trying to tell you that. but you wont listen. its really for your own good. keeping sadness in your hearts isn’t good or healthy. if Disney brings it back then that’s fine, if they don’t then that should be fine too. its hard I know but chat with a friend. you will feel better.

  20. Noemi Emese says:

I feel so frustrated and powerless. We all require this but no-one from Disney is listening. Is there a petition? Can we all just unite and ask them to bring it back??? Is there no hope???

  21. Noemi Emese says:

I would really really really want this game to come back. It was so magical and interactive. My heart aches from its loss.. still after 3 years. There is nothing out there which might even come close to resemble it. Why can’t it be switched back? If security for minors was an issue, I wish they would switch it back for adults with identification required.

  22. Disney-Blogger says:

Just to clarify, Dawn is not the creator of the site, just a dedicated Pixie Hollow fan who keeps the conversation going.

As the creator of this blog, my introduction to the Pixie Hollow virtual world was the Fashion Fairies Boutique which I was addicted to for about 6 months straight. I briefly visited Pixie Hollow before it shut down, and I was really impressed with the immersive world. The site shut down just a few months after my first visit, so I never got the opportunity to fall in love with it.

I really enjoy reading all of the passionate memories fans of Pixie Hollow have shared. While I agree with Dawn that it is unlikely Disney will reopen Pixie Hollow without financial incentive, I think it’s important that fans have a chance to speak out about their love for the site because – you never know! The Walt Disney Company brings dreams to life all the time, and they could revisit the fairy world in some form later in the future.

In the meantime, I’m happy to provide a space for fans to talk about the memories they made in the years Pixie Hollow was active.

  23. Dawn says:

Jazz you are absolutely right more of us should be seeking out pixie hollow groups to talk. It just breaks my heart to read so many ex fairies expect and want Disney to return PH with out giving it careful thought. In time these fairies will understand and I just try to point out that hope is wonderful but is useless when big business is involved. Disney understand money not the hopes and prayers of little girls and boys and that we love Pixie Hollow……… they understand money and the bottom line. To deal with big business (which Disney is) you have to have a viable business plan to make them take notice. Like if you could convince Bill Gates (the richest man in the world) to bank roll a new Pixie Hollow Disney might be interested enough to give it a try because its business which they understand.
Talking about our collective good times on PH is great idea but begging Disney to bring it back or swearing at them does not work.

  24. jazzberry says:

sorry I posted two times cause it wasn’t working lol, I apologize!
    -jay

  25. jazzberry says:

dear dawn, thank you for creating this website to talk about our love pH. I understand now that it is a business. I recommend for ones that still haven’t got over it to meet up with a pixie hollow group (in real life) or meet up with your real friends to talk about it. I honestly met up with a pixie hollow group in london and we talked about it and now by talking we are all okay. we got over it. its kinda like a broken heart. it hurts at first but not in due time. talking helps. I talked with a pixie hollow group and now we are friends (in real life) Britney known as (lily icebloom), sarah known as (sarah), Fiona known as (fawn) and jake known as (jay peppermoon). just do what I did and you will be better.
thank you sawn for this lovely website!
    sincerely-
    jasem known as (jay songberry)

  26. jazzberry says:

dear dawn, I feel weird saying dear as a guy. anyways. I understand that we must let it go let it goo lol. there is nothing we can do except treasure it in our hearsts just like our childhood cartoons lol they don’t last till today, right? everything has to end. I am the biggest pixie hollow guy fan there is but what can you do. its like a broken heart. it will heal in time. if you want to get better maybe you can try to meet up with a few pixie hollow members (in real life) to take about pixie hollow and become friends (in real life) that’s what I did. I met up with amazing people that helped me get through the pain by chatting and becoming friends and I helped them too. we helped each other, I met so far Britney (bloom) sarah (sarah pepper moon) Fiona (fawn) and jake (jay moonberry). I feel much better now. maybe that’s all we need to get through this, either a pixie hollow group or friends…

  27. Dawn says:

Again I say Disney has moved on from Pixie Hollow and if there were any great pay backs for them in bring back PH then it would already be back and we would all be playing it right now but its not and we are not.
Disney is a business before everything else and PH was a business plan that saw light of day and ran for six years and now its over. Everyone says Walt Disney would be so upset with all the sad Fairies and the loss of Pixie Hollow but even when he was alive he ran his company as a business and made decision then that would curl your hair now because to make it all work you have to have a business mind and have to be ruthless because again I say it is ALL ABOUT MONEY which I know you all don’t like to hear or want to hear but that is reality in the none Fairy World that we ALL live in.

  28. amy says:

i say we just have to wait, all actions we are trying to do is not working. Maybe we should just keep hoping for something to happen. Who knows ? Maybe Disney is just saving money to make a new and better P.H, and they are not sure about it so they are just saying its never coming back. i am just saying things, no body knows whats happening in this world, and no one knows what is any of us thinking/feeling about, only ALLAH (god in Islam), and he is able to do anything.
I see you all having good ideas and suggestions, ALL OF YOU. but i am still wondering… why would them stop EVERY DISNEY FAIRY GAME???? am i wrong? P.H=no more, fashion boutique=no more at the app store. what next? no more Disney fairies apps? (tell me if i am wrong)
i am 12, so i am a teen, and like all teens LIKE DISNEY. but if there will be no more fairies, which is my favorite 2, i will stop liking them.
but…, i heard about some clues that P.H may return! you can see that later (i don’t remember the links) so we have to stay in the optimist side. and look:

Will there be any Disney Fairies online games coming out in the future?
You can continue to play flitterific games and activities right here at the official Disney Fairies website! MORE FAIRY FUN WILL BE ADDED REGULARLY!

    What does that mean?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? :D. but not sure!!!! :{

  29. Amanda says:

I really want this to come back I am currently a 16 year old but I started this when I was younger. It’s was and still is the best virtual world I’ve ever played. It’s been closed for almost three years now and people still care about it.

  30. Dawn says:

Also you and other Fairies never answer my one question I keep asking. Just how long was Disney to keep Pixie Hollow up and running for Fairies like yourself. Ten years …………. 15 years ………how about until you have children and grand children would that be long enough and of course Disney footing the bill all the way.

  31. Dawn says:

You don’t understand that it is JUST business with Disney, do you think they care that they broke our hearts no they don’t because its just business and as a business it is and always will be the bottom line. Trust me if Disney thought for one second they they could milk a new Pixie Hollow then it would already be online doing so and maybe if they put out more Pixie Hollow movies they might but even the movies for the moment have run their course.

  32. Charlette says:

Dawn stop saying “It’s just business” and blah blah blah, if you don’t want it to come back than stop blogging and telling other people that, we can believe and have hope for whatever we want! I like Amy’s input and we should stay positive about it.
    P.S
my real name isn’t Charlette, it’s just my Fairy name
    P.P.S
Don’t go telling people to put money on things, I don’t see you trying to put money on, ur just looking at the bad side

  33. amy says:

hi guys! its me amy. and i heard what you sead, or actually write. (maybe i have too much mistakes writing) i was triying to know more about the pixi hollow wonderful world and how to get it back.
some people are posting kind of a thing that says: help us to bring back pixie hollow with logging in.
i did, but i am not sure it will work. well, i hope it will do.
i also heard about to guys that are trying to make the pixie hollow game, just like the first one. but they need info.s about the magical world. i forgot their names. but i hope they will be able to do it, i am pleasing god to help them and so do you. i tried to go back to the old site. all the buttons work accept the “play” one (the online P.H one), i press it, i see loading, i’m getting exited, then poof! i see:” come back later. the fairies are coming soon!”. is this some kind of joke? are they triying to make us mad/sad? are the fairies really coming back? i dont know. but, and again,i hope so. we have to be strong, optimiste, and look at the bright side. who knows? maybe someday it will come back.

faith+trust+pixie dust. for a better life.

  34. Maddie says:

you are ruining every kids childhood by closing the website down and you should go walk the plank

  35. Dawn says:

Charlette who is going to pay for this return of Pixie Hollow. You say they should bring it back but you offer nothing to them to give them incentive to spend millions of their money just to make you and a few thousand exfairies happy again. It cost a great deal of money to create Pixie Hollow online but they did because they had PH movies coming out so what better way to plug a movie. The movies are over yet you believe Disney should drop everything to spend their money to bring it back plus it has been said to bring back PH would cost Disney (or who ever) even more than it did the first time. Disney is a business and their over riding goal or purpose is to make money not throw it into a black hole. Pixie Hollow had its day in the Sun and now its gone…………. just how long did you or do you expect Disney should have kept PH running. I am sorry you missed out on some of Pixie Hollow but its over and gone.

  36. Charlette says:

Disney should give back Pixie hollow! Does anyone know the email? we should all e-mail them of what they could change and what to do the same, make it modern and old!

  37. Charlette says:

I have that same game, I had to get a new phone and I could still download the app! I was sooo (!!!) happy when I got home I ran in circles screaming of joy and my mom thought I had issues.. Shes probably not wrong though… Lol Jk, I don’t have issues, just crazy ones that everyone has

  38. Dawn says:

Hard to say what it means but its still all very quiet on the front….. not even a whisper so its hard to say.

  39. Faithy G says:

My hope has not diminished yet. Here’s why: a few months ago, I had to reset my ipod. When I went into my previously downloaded apps, I could still get the boutique app. I was on it last night, and I noticed a Valentine’s Day boutique for sale. It will only be available for a limited time. Maybe the app is designed to do things like that at certain points of the year. However, I don’t believe that’s the case. If Pixie Hollow is officially and permanently closed, why are they still updating the app? I don’t know what this means, but I’m just gonna keep hoping. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

  40. Charlette says:

I don’t think i will ever be able to give up hope for pixie hollow… :l

  41. Charlette says:

I miss pixie hollow, but if you play Animal Jam, AJ, my user name is hetheremma1029 I am a member in case it shows up, we should be friends and hang out and try to make it like pixie hollow, our own version.

  42. Carol says:

CANNOT believe they deleted it, the game was a blast!!!All my friends and I loved to play! Bring it back disney!!!!! For us, the kids!!! <3

  43. Dawn says:

Morgana a petition to Disney lie all the others is a waste of time. I dare say your petition would have to get 500,000 signatures or more to even make them say “they want what back ?” So Disney is selfish with “their” money………. I find it amazing that most think Disney should drop everything and spend tons of money to bring back Pixie Hollow. There was a report on the web a while ago suggesting that to bring back PH would cost way more than it took the first time … but who cares cause its only Disney money. They are worth over 180 billion and they got there by no caving to a few hundred or thousand ex- fairies. Do you know Bill Gates or some other billionaire or millionaire who be able to approach Disney with the idea of footing the bill to raise Pixie Hollow because maybe Disney would listen if someone else is going to pay…. I doubt it but you never know.

Has anyone thought to start a petition to bring back Pixie Hollow? I actually really miss it and there doesn’t seem to be any downside to reopening the site except that Disney might lose a bit of money. Disney is a selfish company that takes advantage of child actors and is incredibly wealthy, so why not just give one thing back to the buyers and bring back Pixie Hollow?

I’m so sad my tinker bell fashion app is not working again! My son and I love to play it together and we are both disappointed to hear that they are phasing out Pixie Hollow things. I’ve got a suggestion, how about lay off the stars wars stuff that seems to be marketed to the next level. I’ve got news for you, there’s a large group of us that aren’t crazy Star Wars fans. It’s ok but seriously I’d much rather see some of the other stuff Disney has to offer. Also please come up with a good Prince character like Sofia, boy version because look at all the Prince’s in the past movies. We need one that is smart, funny, intuitive and treating people with respect not a beast or thief. Or only falls for a girl’s looks. Seriously we need one with more depth!!!!

Misty you are mistaken there were far more people playing for free than taking out memberships. When I was a moderator I heard this was a big issue of people playing for free and not buying a membership. All the trouble they had came from non members who their best to circumvent the word restriction so they could swear online. Many parents filed complaints against Disney because of the swearing which was getting kind of nasty and harming the younger kids that played.

I think it was a very stuipid idea to take pixie hollow off. I mean that game was the best. And was literally my childhood, and was for many others girls/boys that played that game.

I say bring pixie hollow back, but disney never listened. I mean if we still have all of these people wanting the game back in 2016. Disney you have a problem. They were most likely making more money with the game still up, with all the memberships being bought, because of the love of the game. But money apparently wasnt the problem?

All in all. Pixie hollow will be missed. It was a spectacular game, that will always have a place in my heart, from the memories that were made.

Dear Amy many of us have been asking Disney for it back ever since Sept 2013 but Disney’s silence is very deafening. I wish they would listen.
