Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More
Blogging Disney has featured the world of Pixie Hollow on three previous occasions.
In August 2011, I blogged about the Disney Fairies Magazine and the Disney Fairies Fly mobile app: Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Magazine.
In September 2011, I promoted the TV premiere and home video release of the Pixie Hollow Games movie with links to online games and contests. Pixie Hollow Games, Contests, and More!
And in July 2013, I gave a detailed review of one of my favorite Disney apps: Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique.

Fans of the Disney Fairies franchise have always known the world of Tinker Bell and her friends is more than just movies, magazines and mobile apps: it’s a vast multiplayer online universe where you can create your own fairy avatar, play games, design fashions and interact with thousands of other Tinker Bell fans.
Err, well…it used to be, anyway.
As it happens, Disney shut down the Pixie Hollow online world in September 2013, just two months after I raved about the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app (which I came THISCLOSE to spending real $$$ playing). But on September 19th, Pixie Hollow vanished, and along with it, the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app.

What about Disney Fairies Fly and the Disney Fairies Magazine? Are they still around? Nope. All gone. Poof. It’s as if they never existed.
Of course, Disney can delete Pixie Hollow from the internet and remove the games from the App Store, but my blog posts are still online. I didn’t even know Disney purged the Disney Fairies universe until I received several comments from readers who couldn’t find the Fashion Boutique in the App Store. The comments were from angry Fairies fans who loved the fashion boutique app but couldn’t download it on new devices and were unable to recover the game after accidentally deleting the original download.
As a Fashion Boutique fan, the frustrations of other gamers inspired me to investigate the vanishing app. The internet isn’t always the easiest place to find things that no longer exist, but after a fair amount of Googling, I found an FAQ explaining Disney’s purge of Pixie Hollow and its related apps.
Unfortunately, the FAQ page is a JPG image, making it inaccessible to screen readers and devices without image support, and the text can’t be read and indexed by search engines. To help the distraught Fairies fans who come to Blogging Disney looking for answers, I’ve copied Disney’s official FAQ below.

I absolutely loved this game i was so shocked wen i went to log in and it sed Uh Oh im so stressed out now this game was amazing please bring it back.. i really miss my chracter and the hard work i put into playing this game.. u should really consider putting it back up

So some people have just recently found out that Pixie Hollow closed in 2013 and now miss it so bad and want it back wow……….. where have they been for 2 years ? The game was not that important to them if they take a two year break.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee bring pixie hollow back I understand about the apps, but honestly Pixie Hollow was the best virtual world online and I (and many other want it back) I know everyone commenting wants it back!!!! Please do bring it back it was all I used to play and now no other worlds are good.
i remember starting pixie hollow when i was 8 years old. Now im 14 and i took breaks now and then from playing the virtual world. I stopped playing when i was 12. Then i remembered the fun i had with the game. My heart crushed when i tried to go online but it said ‘sorry your search could not be found’ I did more research and found out that pixie hollow closed in 2013. and i just found out that out two weeks ago…. T-T

I played pixie hollow since i was seven and i’m thirteen now. i just look back and think of all the things me and my best friend Lilly did on pixie hollow. i want to cry because when people at my school or in my neighborhood didn’t wanna see me i would just get on pixie hollow and i would be fine i got like a five year membership. and it lasted but the next year pixie hollow was closed. my little sister loves watching the fairy movies but she never got to play the game. i am so sad. i hope pixie hollow will come back soon because there are a thousand kids wanting to try this and some kids didn’t get the chance to do this like me. and i want them to get a chance. so please bring it back, because even me, as a thirteen year old… I would still play it. Please bring it back again.

BRING IT BACK

Hope is a wonderful power but I fear in this case it will have no effect cause Disney is there to make money. If we could guarantee Disney that 10,000 people would take out a membership then they might listen cause now we are providing them a viable alternative. Sending emails and petitions alone will not force Disney to cave in. A kid who has a parent in the US Senate well that means something or if Bill Gates has a daughter or niece who is or was a Fairy well that means something because who won’t listen to the richest man in the world…do see my point ..by ourselves we have no power that Disney recognizes . If we are to get PH back we need an angle and a good one to make Disney listen but writing angry email to Disney is not the answer and never will be.
Bring back pixie Hallow I’m getting restless of waiting day after day.

Begging Disney to bring back Pixie Hollow will never work as they made a business decision to close it which they promised to do back in 2007 when I joined. If PH were to come back you..we would have to have a plan to present to Disney..we would have to guarantee they would not loose any money because lets be honest here we are talking about their money like it was our money. Plus bring back PH is not like turning on a light, they would have hire people they let go and it would have to be re-designed because I doubt they saved very much of it cause it costs money to store information on the massive servers Disney would have been using and they were more than likely rented. To bring back Pixie Hollow today would more than likely cost more than it did back 2006 2007 when it first came out.
Disney!!!!!! You have to bring it back. Please I loved that game. I reall do not care about the other games. You need to bring it back so our kids can have the fun of that game. I cannot believe this I will actually stop buying Disney things unles you get it back up. You took it down for no reason. You need to bring it back please
I don’t know if anyone can relate, but when I was younger, all i wanted to do was play Pixie Hollow, but you needed and email address in order to be able to play. Of course, I was too young, so I would have to ask my parents. My mom didn’t like me ‘wasting my time’ on the computer so I was never able to play. When I got a little but older, around 11 years old, my parents gave me an account so i could contact them because I didn’t have a phone and was spending the summer in the mainland (while I actually live in Hawaii). By the time I finally got the chance to go and sign up, I had been notified that it was going to be closing. I decided to not even bother getting attached because I would just end up getting my heart broken. So I sadly went on through life having no idea what pixie hollow looked like, what kind of fun games there were, wondering what the latest fashions were like in the fairy world……sigh…….but life goes on. I only just remembered pixie hollow once more while watching Netflix, and hoped they had resurrected the site that was just a dream for a young 6 year old me, and found this blog which makes me pretty happy to see that someone else is just a, if not more, upset at this complete vanishing of not only pixie hollow, but one of my favorite games, being the fairy fashion boutique. which pretty much leads me up to now. well……yeah.
I was so incredibly sad when Pixie Hollow shut down, especially since I hadn’t even been on it for months and then I came back and it was just gone. I loved that game soooo much. Thinking about it makes me so sad. It was such a beautiful game– the games, the fairies, the music. Oh my gosh, the music. D;
According to Wikipedia, they are bringing it back in September of 2020. :/ I really wish they would bring it back before then… I would still play it then even though I’ll be so much older, but 5 years? That’s a long time to wait. I would be ecstatic if they brought it back a lot sooner than that.
I really wish they would bring back the game. It was one of my favorites when I was younger, and if they brought it back it still would be in my top 5. I loved that game and I’d even considered buying membership a couple times. I hope they bring it back!!!
I hope Pixie Hollow comes back. But in all honesty, I do not think it will. I bet they went through lots and lots of reasoning to shut down a big game like this. I know they realized how heartbroken we were. They answered phone calls, posts, everything. They knew it was coming. They still don’t care. Even if it does come back.. will i remember my username and password? Do they still have our fairies? Probably not. Why go through all this trouble and still have files of everything? They’re doing fine without the website, so there’s no need to bring it back for them. I miss it so much. I used to play like crazy with my stepsister and we have so much fun. We cry whenever we watch a Tinkerbell movie and be reminded of this game. I don’t cry, she does haha. Why ruin my summer.? UGH please, Disney. Was disappointed. Stay strong fairies, even though our game is gone.. find something else to do.. move on…it will just be a great memory of your childhood so don’t worry. I loved this game!!! Tink and her friends were one of my all time favorite Disney Characters (especially Silvermist), since I love them so much, it was fun to be one of them even if it was a virtual game, it was still fun. I tried other games such as Wizard 101, Toontown, etc. and it is just not the same :(. I really hope they change their minds and decide to bring back the Pixie Hollow game :)!!

Bonjour, I just want to say this… what the hell??? Why did you close Pixie Hollow? That game was so much fun it was my favourite! You have to bring it back! Then the UK got their hands on it! I love the UK very much, but what they did was nothing like the old Pixie Hollow. You can barley do anything but have a blog. Please bring back Pixie Hollow.
Hi, i’m Lily, I played this game for so long when i was in kindergarten/1st grade/2nd grade and it was my favorite game ever. And then one day a few days after i started 3rd grade, when i went i play it, i couldn’t find it. I searched everywhere and then i found out it closed. I was heartbroken. Until I found Animal Jam i didn’t have a single thing to do. Now i’m on summer break and going to go into 5th grade on September 5th. I’m so glad that there are other people that still want it back. I really don’t understand why Disney closed it when they were obviously making so much money. I still remember these 5 things:
1. My name (Lily Silversnow)
2. Flying around the corners in the place where the hairdresser was to collect items (sunflower seeds was one of them i remember)
3. The games (I remember a spider one very clearly)
4. PARTIES! They were the best! Especially the games 🙂
5. The chatting. It was the best thing about the game. No one was mean, no one was exclusive, and the great thing is that EVERYONE actually talked like they were a fairy in Pixie Hollow. “I love summer!” “Hurry! Winter’s coming!”

i don’t understand why they closed it. they should definably should make another website for it but i cant find any since they closed it i was gonna make a copy but i cant it would be to hard. it broke my heart to see Disney go away but i will be waiting for it to comeback and make a lot new friends. i have never worked harder of getting stuff i need to make stuff on that game.
When I was little…
It took months of begging to get this game. After that it took months to get the membership. Later my mom saw me playing and she asked if I could show her how to play. She loved the game and encouraged me to play more.
I stopped playing for a while (like a month) because I had school. I continued playing and I later met tons of friends and played with my friends I’ve known since I was two! Mom thought it was an amazing game and was also disappointed when it shut down. I had a pet! I had a double house! I had a high level! I was living the fairy dream!
I go to play the game and it’s gone! I was like 8 when this happened and of course I cried! I cried and cried and cried! And still cry TO THIS DAY! I’m 10 and I’m still missing this game!

When I was 4-5 years old, I started my free account as a garden fairy, white simple daffodil dress, When I was 6 My computer lagged and the game lagged, so I grew out of it… When I was 8, got a new laptop, started again with Tinker talent, then I got membership like 4 days later, reached level 28 which was soooo fun, and then collected all materials, made dresses and max level,
When I was 10, september 2013, I cried in those last 5 days, once only, recorded a video, and it slowly withered away with the unlimited diamonds and messages saying “ill miss pixie hollow!” overwhelming all over the boutiques and senarios….

why would disney get rid of a game when so many fans stand up and say they loved it? thats like canceling a show that had great rates. i dont know what to do now that its gone. i say, bring it back

I remember that the last day- I got so sad that I made a video of me and my outfits. I always loved this game and the worst mistake you guys made was shutting this down. The movies are amazing. However, us kids want socialize with other people. Yes, we have real life but some of us have problems socializing and this was the only way how. Why did you shut it down? We paid money. We’re still young, please bring it back. We’ll never stop believing in fairies. (:
This is so upsetting , i loved this game when i was little. I was searching for the site in google and i couldn’t find it at all. Then i found this letter and it’s so upsetting to hear that they closed it. I still don’t get why they closed if it was so popular for little kids. Still confused .
I am so sad 🙁 My daughter and I would play this game for hours, I loved helping her meet new friends and doing quests together. Why on earth would they shut down a beautiful animated fairy game that had so many members?? New things ahead? Well its been what 2 years what else is in the making besides little things that are in no comparison to this game? I want my fairies back, I want the quests back, I want the love of pixies back, and my time spent with so many friends and my daughter! You made a HUGE mistake shutting this game down! Not to mention money lost, I spent a big chunk if change on that site for my daughter! HUGE HUGE MISTAKE!

I dont know if this is a glitch or something but in my history of all the apps I downloaded it had the pixie hollow fashion boutique app and i downloaded it and it works perfectly!

i remember i started playing when i was 7 years old.i loved this game and so did my bestfriend. she lived far away so it was the only place we could talk. it was an amazing website and i dont understand why they took it away.
I think this was truly an inspiring game for all users to enjoy. Disney shouldn’t have taken that magic and love away in the first place. I still don’t get why it closed.

To this day I’m still very disappointed that this wonderful game that all ages used to play is now gone. I’ve played this game for so long! I’ve probably played it from about the time it came out to the very last day of its availability. I’m almost 13 years old and I want to play it so much right now. All I’m asking is that you guys PLEASE please please bring this amazing game back! I was in love with this game so much I begged my dad to get me a membership multiple times. I remember when I was 5 years old…
I was SO excited, because my parents let me have a Pixie Hollow account. It was my first time signing up for a website. When I was this age, I was obsessed with Disney Fairies, so this was awesome for me. I played constantly, even though I didn’t have paid membership.
Soon, I grew out of Disney Fairies. However, many years later, in 2013, I remembered the great times I had on this website. So, I rushed to my computer and pulled up the Pixie Hollow website. It said that the site had been shut down. I was VERY upset. Why would they do such a thing? They said they were making room for mobile devices, but what does that have to do with anything? And after I learned about the app being deleted, I realized that the pieces didn’t fit together. It didn’t seem right… And it still confuses me to this day…
(BTW, Blogging Disney, is there any way to show this whole comment thread to Disney? If you haven’t done so already?? Because I MISS THIS GAME!!! I REALLY REALLY MISS IT!!!!!!

I made my first email account at 11 years BECAUSE of Pixie Hollow. I had so many fun memories on this site… gathering and gaming and collecting and waiting to be old enough to pay for a full membership.
Now? I am a recent college graduate returning in hopes of reliving my preteen memories.
I even remembered my old email and password!! RubyRedLillyPixie!!
But it my account has been deleted… Well, it was a few years old anyway. Rotted away, I suppose?
So I made my own BRAND NEW little fairy… JUST like I remembered… Then decorated my room….
And then what?
Nothing.
No more “fairy school” or workshops…
No new realms to explore in a group of your friends.
No new quests to complete.
No little acorns or wisps or leaves to collect.
No Fashion News Weekly.
Only a faint ghost of what was once the twilight years of my childhood…
I guess my mistake was that I grew up and stopped believing in fairies.
