Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More

Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More

Blogging Disney has featured the world of Pixie Hollow on three previous occasions.

Tinker Bell

In August 2011, I blogged about the Disney Fairies Magazine and the Disney Fairies Fly mobile app: Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Magazine.

In September 2011, I promoted the TV premiere and home video release of the Pixie Hollow Games movie with links to online games and contests. Pixie Hollow Games, Contests, and More!

And in July 2013, I gave a detailed review of one of my favorite Disney apps: Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique.

Are you surprised there’s so much happening in the tiny, magical world of Peter Pan’s temperamental fairy sidekick? Don’t be!

Introducing the Garden Fairy Chloe, screenshot from disney.go.com/fairies/

Fans of the Disney Fairies franchise have always known the world of Tinker Bell and her friends is more than just movies, magazines and mobile apps: it’s a vast multiplayer online universe where you can create your own fairy avatar, play games, design fashions and interact with thousands of other Tinker Bell fans.

Err, well…it used to be, anyway.

As it happens, Disney shut down the Pixie Hollow online world in September 2013, just two months after I raved about the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app (which I came THISCLOSE to spending real $$$ playing). But on September 19th, Pixie Hollow vanished, and along with it, the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app.

What about Disney Fairies Fly and the Disney Fairies Magazine? Are they still around? Nope. All gone. Poof. It’s as if they never existed.

Of course, Disney can delete Pixie Hollow from the internet and remove the games from the App Store, but my blog posts are still online. I didn’t even know Disney purged the Disney Fairies universe until I received several comments from readers who couldn’t find the Fashion Boutique in the App Store. The comments were from angry Fairies fans who loved the fashion boutique app but couldn’t download it on new devices and were unable to recover the game after accidentally deleting the original download.

Pixie Hollow Closed

As a Fashion Boutique fan, the frustrations of other gamers inspired me to investigate the vanishing app. The internet isn’t always the easiest place to find things that no longer exist, but after a fair amount of Googling, I found an FAQ explaining Disney’s purge of Pixie Hollow and its related apps.

Pixie Hollow FAQ

Unfortunately, the FAQ page is a JPG image, making it inaccessible to screen readers and devices without image support, and the text can’t be read and indexed by search engines. To help the distraught Fairies fans who come to Blogging Disney looking for answers, I’ve copied Disney’s official FAQ below.

  4. Sara says:

you could at least keep the games up but close down the chat room…

  5. Dawn says:

Funny how Disney builds and creates memories on Monday and kills them off by Friday. The creator of dreams in children doe not think twice when it comes time to kill kids dreams. Pixie Hollow was all that is wonderful and Disney dangled it in front of us then took it away with no remorse what-so-ever.

  6. Rachel says:

    They ruined my childhood….

  7. Rachel says:

THEY TOOK A PIECE OUT OF MY LIFE! It was my childhood, I had 12-month premium, Played ever since 2008 to the time it closed, had so many friends, and a boyfriend I never saw again. Now everything is gone and I cry sometimes cause THEY MURDERED MY FREAKING CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Dawn says:

Ayla it was a cold business decision along with other reasons. It would be lovely to have it back but alas Disney has to date never reversed a major business decision…….but there could always be a first ????

  9. Ayla says:

Ok why would you take down pixie hollow when so many people loved no other games will be better than this becuase so many people loved it and it was a big part of thier childhood that you guys took away and I am one of those people who grew up with this game and i miss it so much!!!!! ๐Ÿ™

  10. Ayla says:

  11. Bet M. says:

I am 12 and i played pixie hollow fatefully everyday. i worked very hard to create a perfect but to also create a perfect house it took me months to make that house and my avatar perfect. i payed with my BFF. I know it’s been two years and they’ll never bring it back . it;s just so sad to find a perfect game like this and then ending so abruptly. ๐Ÿ™ I will always love the virtual world of pixie hollow! Now, though when I look at other games they’re just boring. I wish with all my heart they would bring it back. However, sadly I know isn’t possible. LONG LIVE PIXIE HOLLOW!!!!! ๐Ÿ™ :'( :'( ๐Ÿ™

  12. Lily says:

Please bring the Pixie Hollow game back!:

  13. Joanna says:

I have to admit I went to the UK version and while I can’t go flying in the meadow,I was able to create 3 fairies and decorate my fairy house for my fairy home page. It has all the original features clothes and furniture items it just isn’t a virtual world. But it was fun to do.

  14. Lilian says:

I have always love the Pixie Hollow game. I loved that I got a membership and I could dress my fairy and decorate our home, buy a pet, play games with other fairie. It was so amazing. I blocked out every thing when I was playing that game. I was so disappointed when they closed it. I felt like everything I loved was ruined. I don’t understand why they couldn’t just keep it. Even if it was two years ago, I’m still in love with that game. I loved it.

  15. Joanna says:

Dawn I know that you are trying to bring everyone to a reality that all ready is, pixie hollow it closed. And probably will never return. It doesn’t mean that we should stop expressing ourselves about how much we miss it. I’m an adult who played it every day. I miss it every day. I have found another game I play. It’s an app but definitely not anything like pixie hollow. While I play this game everyday. I would probably give it up to play pixie hollow in a heart beat. I can’t help but look periodically for a sign that it might return. As everyone else here does. It isn’t about big business or whether or not it was making money. I am sure it was between the memberships as well as pixie diamonds. Money was coming in, I believe there were other issues. Issues we didn’t know about, that maybe the creators thought to let it go than to correct or fix them. What is troublesome, is the bolony that they were working on apps. It’s been two years and Disney hasn’t created a new game app. Just a movie one. No games. They removed their game apps. I played one and ended very quickly. Disney just wants us to spend money on movies, and isn’t really in the gaming world any more. That’s ok I will play my games with someone else. But I still miss and will always miss pixie hollow

  16. Dawn says:

Its real sad that people do not understand big business. Disney is a business and a a business their intent is to make money. From the very first day that Pixie Hollow went online Disney had PH would be then it would be deleted all of which has come true. I don’t like it anymore than you do but its just business and Disney never reverses a business decision………. at least not to my knowledge. Pleading with Disney to bring back Pixie Hollow falls on deaf ears, if it were to come back you the ex-Fairies would have to come up with a viable business plan that would profits for Disney because again its all about money. With out a adult business plan there is no hope of PH coming back and even if you something I don’t it would matter to Disney.

  17. bellahadley says:

how dare you I’m so sad that i find out right now can you plz brin back pixie hollow my firey was on there and everything glad the rest of my favorite games are still on i was promissed to my mother she will get me login agian i don’t like this news I’m reporting it! >:(

  18. Bugs says:

Although I have to agree with all that my fellow pixie hollow friends have to say, I do want to say to you Disney that many little girls and boys even some adults LOVED pixie hollow games. I know that me and some of my friends were and still are very sad that you have decided to close down Disneys pixie hollow. Growing up pixie hollow was a very big part of my young childhood I played this game from beginning to end and so did a few of my friends. I really hope that all of you bring it back because as I have said before it was a great game and it really did teach kids a lot.
    thanks for your time.

  19. Maria says:

Please bring back pixie hollow! I am 13 and I really enjoyed playing it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Erika says:

Please bring the Pixie Hollow Online game back! I used to play it 2 years ago and still miss it today. My sister is obsessed with fairies and wishes as much as me to bring the game back. Can you please bring it back? Lot’s of people would love to have it back and since your motto is “the happiest place on Earth”, can you please make all these people happy?

  21. Dawn says:

anyone who ever played the game wants it back but as far as I know Disney “never” reverses a business decision ….ever which means Pixie Hollow is gone only pale remakes are left to us……. if Disney lets them ..you know copy right.

  22. Luna says:

I really love pixie hollow it was closed because of Disney infinity I’m so sad I really want it back

  23. Katherine says:

    But pixie hollow back!

  24. Katherine says:

I loved pixie hollow so much the only thing I ever wish is put pixie hollow back please. I’ll be very happy if you do do and if you do put free member ships!if you don’t I’ll be with this wish forever!!!!!

  25. Dawn says:

and all you can do is sign up and nothing else.

  26. ANONYMOUS says:

There is a pixie hollow and you can still create a fairy at http://www.disney.co.uk/disney-fairies/create-a-fairy-activity? This is no trick I have a pixie account right now all you have to do is sign up!!!!!

  27. Grace says:

I loved Pixie Hollow so much. Me and my friends would play it every day after we got home from school and it was amazing. When we found out it was closing, we were devastated! And to be honest, Club Penguin is a terrible game and not fun at all! I don’t know anybody that actually enjoys that game. But I heard one rumor (I forgot where I heard it) that it might be coming back September 19th 2015, the same day it closed. AND someone is recreating Pixie Hollow and it’s called http://www.fairyabc.com ! It’s still beta so its very glitchy right now and you cant play the game yet but I am sort of confused of why, after 2 years, people would start to recreate it? It doesn’t make sense but it’s great that they’re trying to do this. Please, please, PLEASE, bring Pixie Hollow back to us!

  28. Dawn says:

    Funny.

  29. kala says:

  30. hoilo says:

i saw a video of it and i was so exited to play. now im sad. ๐Ÿ™

  31. Erica says:

My parents have always loved the idea and charisma of Disney, and introduced the wonderful world of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Neverland into my life when I was just maybe of age 3! I grew up with Disney and the fantastic fantasy world of Tinkerbell, and I can’t tell you how many times I used to run around the house wishing I could fly and be a fairy. When I discovered the “original” Pixie Hollow game at maybe 5 or 6 years old, I fell in love with it. I played it every day, and obsessed over it so much I begged my parents to buy me a membership. When we moved, I sadly forgot all about the idea of Pixie Hollow until one day I re-discovered it while going through all my computer tabs. I was sad to see that they had redesigned they overall experience of the site, but I was also happy to see it was still around after the 2 years I had neglected it. I fell in love with the site yet again, and begged my parents to reimburse my membership. I played it practically every day, building up my inventory and ingredient stash from the ground up again. I got so far along in the game that I practically had everything available. I grew along with the progress of the site itself, and when the email went out nationwide saying it was shutting down, I was devastated. This game had became such an important part of my childhood, I didn’t want to believe that it was going away! When the day finally came that Disney shut down the site for good, I cried myself to sleep for at least a week because I missed it so much. Sure, now they have fun little mini games, but nothing is the same as the incredible game they once had! Club Penguin is no substitute whatsoever. Period. I don’t understand why they decided to leave this franchise out in the dust, I really don’t! I am begging you Disney, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE BRING PIXIE HOLLOW BACK!! I LOVED THIS SITE SO MUCH!!!

  32. Toni says:

It doesn’t make sense to me. I know the website was making money, I was paying to play it and do were all these other people. I am a grown woman who loves this game. Please bring it back, what else do you need to know how much we all want it back?

  33. klohe says:

    i need the game back

  34. brooke says:

I loved everything about that game. I loved making myself a fairy and picking out what kind of fairy I wanted to be it was just so entertaining and fun. There’s nothing like that anymore and I have NO IDEA why Disney would shut it down for other games when that one was probably the most used one of all time. I don’t know if anyone from Disney is gonna see this but if someone does.. bring it back dude! I miss it

  35. Juliet says:

Bring it back! I miss my fairy! There isn’t anything out there that even compares to Pixie Hollow and it’s games!

  36. Yomi says:

If you go to Disney right now I bet you can’t find a better game than Pixie Hollow and that’s including Club Penguin. Club Penguin might be cute but the environment is always snow, it could have more detail, and why do you have to have a membership to have more clothes?! The clothes they provide doesn’t have a lot of choice and I know I’m not blonde haired. Pixie Hollow gave fairies more options and made it more persuasive for us to get a membership. In Club Penguin, it’s the same game over and over again. They try to replace Poxie Hollow but it’s not working. It’s not as magical, detailed, and awesome as Pixie Hollow. PIXIE HOLLOW IS A WORLD NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN!!

  37. Yomi says:

I’m a big fan of Tinkerbell ever since I was I little baby. So, I especially enjoyed Pixie Hollow. It was beautiful and whimsical and very detailed. Now, I don’t know you people but I know that Pixie Hollow should have not been taken. It was one of the best websites ever created for a simulation game. I will not forget it. We shouldn’t forget it. Disney staff, if your reading this please bring it back. When I was little I dreamed of being a fairy and live in Neverland. I still sometimes daydream about it and I’m 13. So when I found out Pixie Hollow, I was truly ecstatic. It was a dream come true for me when I was 7. Ever since it disappeared, I’ve been trying to find a game or website with the same awesome quality and I couldn’t find any. Yes, they were entertaining but not enough. The games haven’t been improving since Pixie Hollow disappeared. They can never compete with it. I THOUGHT THAT IN DISNEY DREAM DO COME TRUE. WELL, RIGHT NOW MY DREAM IS FOR PIXIE HOLLOW TO COME BACK!

  38. adriana says:

I love this game.I have been searching for this app.but couldn’t find it. Decided to Google why wasn’t coming up and find out is out of Google play app.very upsetting. Please bring it back.

  39. Jess says:

As a long term fan of the game, I am still deeply upset. Pixie Hollow was a world unlike any other. It was so beautifully detailed and whimsical; unlike most online websites. The games were so fun and the fairies/sparrowmen you created were so cute and playful. From the quests, the outfits, to the bakery and everything else, pixie hollow was an extremely special place. It matters to so many of us, to this day!! It is now 2015, and you are still in high demand of wounded and confused fans left without a real explanation. I believe that disney is more than capable of re opening the game, and we would all be thrilled to see t back up and running again.

  40. maddie says:

  44. Jamis says:
