Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More
Blogging Disney has featured the world of Pixie Hollow on three previous occasions.
In August 2011, I blogged about the Disney Fairies Magazine and the Disney Fairies Fly mobile app: Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Magazine.
In September 2011, I promoted the TV premiere and home video release of the Pixie Hollow Games movie with links to online games and contests. Pixie Hollow Games, Contests, and More!
And in July 2013, I gave a detailed review of one of my favorite Disney apps: Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique.

Fans of the Disney Fairies franchise have always known the world of Tinker Bell and her friends is more than just movies, magazines and mobile apps: it’s a vast multiplayer online universe where you can create your own fairy avatar, play games, design fashions and interact with thousands of other Tinker Bell fans.
Err, well…it used to be, anyway.
As it happens, Disney shut down the Pixie Hollow online world in September 2013, just two months after I raved about the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app (which I came THISCLOSE to spending real $$$ playing). But on September 19th, Pixie Hollow vanished, and along with it, the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app.

What about Disney Fairies Fly and the Disney Fairies Magazine? Are they still around? Nope. All gone. Poof. It’s as if they never existed.
Of course, Disney can delete Pixie Hollow from the internet and remove the games from the App Store, but my blog posts are still online. I didn’t even know Disney purged the Disney Fairies universe until I received several comments from readers who couldn’t find the Fashion Boutique in the App Store. The comments were from angry Fairies fans who loved the fashion boutique app but couldn’t download it on new devices and were unable to recover the game after accidentally deleting the original download.
As a Fashion Boutique fan, the frustrations of other gamers inspired me to investigate the vanishing app. The internet isn’t always the easiest place to find things that no longer exist, but after a fair amount of Googling, I found an FAQ explaining Disney’s purge of Pixie Hollow and its related apps.
Unfortunately, the FAQ page is a JPG image, making it inaccessible to screen readers and devices without image support, and the text can’t be read and indexed by search engines. To help the distraught Fairies fans who come to Blogging Disney looking for answers, I’ve copied Disney’s official FAQ below.

i really loved pixie hollow so much. it was really the only game i played when i was a kid. and when i heard it as gone i was really sad. i never liked any other fairy game again
Hope is a wonderful power but I fear in this case it will have no effect cause Disney is there to make money. If we could guarantee Disney that 10,000 people would take out a membership then they might listen cause now we are providing them a viable alternative. Sending emails and petitions alone will not force Disney to cave in. A kid who has a parent in the US Senate well that means something or if Bill Gates has a daughter or niece who is or was a Fairy well that means something because who won’t listen to the richest man in the world…do see my point ..by ourselves we have no power that Disney recognizes . If we are to get PH back we need an angle and a good one to make Disney listen but writing angry email to Disney is not the answer and never will be.
I felt so bad my grandchildren and I played for the life of Pixie Hollow It was a safe Internet place for kids to have fun and interact and learn so many skills . Walt Disney would be so sad to know what they have done to his company it’s sad that money has replaced everything Walt Disney Did to see children and Adults happy and be a child in make believe in the magic of Tinker Bell and all the fairies. If they would have kept it going it would have been a future for the younger generation to play. I would decently pay for another chane for my family to have a safe place on the Internet we are taking imagination away from our kids futures. Miss Pixie Hollow please !please ! rethink this for future

Grace it was a money maker but Disney allowed people to join for free which was a major issue. If it had been pay as you from the start it might still be here but people expect something for nothing and I am not sure if enough people would have signed up to save Pixie Hollow. It took lots of money to keep PH working and if say 4 out 5 were joining for free well do the math. To start PH up today I fear would cost way more than it did in 2007 so that could be a very important reason why Disney does not want to.”

I used to LOVE Pixie Hollow and this actually wants to make me cry reading this! I had a membership and couldn’t get enough of the games, clothes, and fairies online. Ugh, I wish I could go on one more time..

A petition will do no good where Disney is concerned……. they will just ignore it like all the others. You need a better idea if you are to convince Disney to change their mind on Pixie Hollow.
This was a really great game! I didn’t play everyday, but every few months I would get the urge to play, and it was awesome to escape from the real world for awhile. Today was one of those days that I got the urge (I hadn’t played since summer of 2013 and somehow missed the memo on it going away), and I even found the page, just the way it looked before. But I couldn’t get in. -.-
So my question is… How do we start a petition to bring back Pixie Hollow?
i am so sad that this game has been removed. my sisters and i LOVED playing this game. i wonder if theres any way disney could bring it back
It really adds to my depression that I cannot talk to and play with my internet friends anymore. I started playing Pixie Hollow when I was about eleven years old. I am now fifteen and I still want to play Pixie hollow, I had bought a years member ship, that’s how dedicated to the game I was. It was the only game I ever would spend money on, and I was just about to get another years member ship but it was not going through, and it turns out, Pixie Hollow was shutting down. I remember trying to run around enjoying myself as best as I could before it ended. I remember running to my friend’s house because they didn’t have a cell phone, and telling them that Pixie Hollow was shutting down. I also remember them fighting and arguing over who got to use the computer first to play. I laughed so hard and then I ran back and brought my laptop and the other laptop over to their house and we all played together. We did that almost everyday for the remaining days of Pixie Hollow’s life span. We even made a calendar counting down until Pixie Hollow closed and we tried playing as much as we could even when they were practically giving everything away in the game. One leaf could get us lots and lots of diamond when before I remember, I was the one supplying them there clothes because they never were able to get a membership, and they year membership gives, gave me 100 diamonds at the beginning of the month. I loved it, and every time I got paid, I would go and buy them stuff and give it to them. But towards the end, I remember how chaotic Pixie Hollow was and how much stuff I bought, I bought practically everything and collected more ingredients and traded for more diamonds. But thinking about these memories, to this day, makes me want to cry, some times I feel like I’m actually going to cry. And thinking of all the little kids who will never get this experience makes me sad. Even my little brother cried when he heard it got closed because he made a really close friend. She was nice and they’d lost each other for a while but when they reunited, it was beautiful. He was so happy, and to see him so heartbroken, I could only imagine all the other people who loved Pixie Hollow, who held Pixie Hollow dear to them, who found peace and comfort in Pixie Hollow. They would all be so broken as well. Please. I truly hope they bring back Pixie Hollow soon, I will forever be waiting. I’ve checked every month for Pixie Hollow and to no avail. Well have a nice day.
how can you all live with this? I don’t know why you would ever shut it down! do you know how many kids lives you ruined? this was the only game of my childhood that made me feel good and has meaning to me.
Hi everybody I miss Pixie Hollow I had lots of fun playing Pixie Hollow. I miss all my friends and my animal friend to it hard not playing Pixie Hollow. I wonder how everybody doing. It been a long time sent Pixie Hollow came off how it’s time to come back on. I heard that Pixie Hollow was to come back on in 2015 they said maybe it will come on June or July. It sad that they said it on YouTube but it not open. So will when it be reopen in 2016 I want to write then so bad and said they need to reopen Pixie Hollow. I will have my on page so everybody could help up Pixie Hollow back on so I will start my page just let everybody how play Pixie Hollow.
also if you had daughters and sons. the girls played Pixie Hollow the boys Pirates of the Caribbean and usually both played ToonTown.
after they got a little older the girls played Pirates. when the kids got bored the parents played the games…some times the entire family played together.
I miss these great family friendly games….you can find equivalents for Pirates and Toontown but there is nothing close to Pixie Hollow for the girls….it should be brought back…..the new Disney is more interested in making money than making the children happy……..this is not what Walt wanted.
Wow i remember when i use to play this, it was actually my favorite online gaming site. I stopped playing this because i’am so much older know but this just reminds me of how young i was and how fun it was. I hope one day pixie hollow will return many, young kids have so much fun with this website and to see it gone is heartbreaking. This is one of my favorite online gaming sites as a kid growing up, just changed everything. Pixie hollow please come back for the kids that loved playing this, it actually means something to the kids that play on this website. so come back pixie hollow. Good old days. xoxo 🙂

Very recently I did a post about this post for the PBC (Pixie Blogging Community). I noticed that in the FAQ’s it says ‘Pixie Hollow accounts have now been automatically closed, and can no longer be accessed.’ Not automatically deleted, just automatically closed.
Like I said in the post, it may mean nothing, or it may mean what I think it may – Pixie Hollow, and our profiles just may be sitting in Disney’s files somewhere, just in case they ever wish to open it again.
Whatever it is, I call it New Hope, and it’s up to all you fairies to keep it alive.
If you’re interested, please look up ‘Pixie Hollow Blogs’ on the internet to find out more on the PBC, which is basically a small Community of PH players who are keep the PH spirit alive.
I have one last thing to say for this novel-ish comment: PH, your fairy, you PH friends – it’s all still alive in you – just so long as you believe. 🙂

I FEEL VERY DISAPPOINTED
Ok, so I used to play Pixie Hollow like 24/7 – it was my life. I had gotten one year membership for Christmas one year and Justin Bieber Tickets but I could only choose one and I chose the membership. Like, that’s how much I LOVED that game! I turned away a concert ticket for one of my favorite singers at the time. I had so much stuff on that game and it was the best thing in all virtual games.
I had forgotten it for some time. Then on one random day, I remembered it and decided, “Hey, let’s go on pixie hollow. Just for the heck of it.” Mind you, I hadn’t been on it since I was in 7th grade, and by this time I was a sophomore in high school. So I type up the URL for it and click enter and the first thing I see is, “DISNEY FAIRIES PIXIE HOLLOW IS NOW CLOSED” in it’s big, bold, sparkly white glory and my first thought was:
“WHaT? Closed?!”
And I was completely devastated. My childhood game had been ripped off the face of the internet and was no longer accessible. It was one of those tear-jerking moments like when you find out your dog ripped up your favorite stuffed animal.
I wrote a long message to the staff, discussing my disappointment in their rash and unnecessary decision of removing Pixie Hollow and I hope I made them feel bad. This was a really hard thing to process and it was just a virtual game.
Well, all I have to say now is:
Rest in peace Pixie Hollow and my now late fairy Stella Fireflame. Stella was my best friend (even though she was just me) and it hurts to not see your oddly always smiling facing and almost unblinking eyes. I will also miss the awkward way her body twitched when I moved her to quickly across the screen. It is now time to say goodbye to a piece of my 7th grader heart named Stella Fireflame. You will always hold a special spot in my now blackened and shriveled up young adult heart. This is junior high schooler Amanda Sutalo letting you go.

i used to play this game with my cousin hannah we loved it so much and we used to alwes have partys on the game and i realy miss it and i remember my fairys name it was lila star swirls i really want them to bring it back i miss the game so so so so much!! and i am really sad : ( they closed it down and i realy realy realy want them to bring it back if they do i will get a member ship i have mised it so much the last time i played it it was almost two years ago so i think pepole should blog and say they will get a member ship so they will bring it back i hope they do.

I was super mad that it closed down because I loved this game. Like, they don’t even give a fair explanation on why they closed it down. All they said was “we want to make better games” but I think it was an awesome game and we should have it back! Plus the week before it closed down I had purchased membership for 6 months so we wasted all of our money on this membership and then it closes like what the heck! I want this game back and MY MEMBERSHIP.
Maybe we could make the site ourselves to be able to play it I for one was sad and angry when it closed down so I think we should make it ourselves

In my opinion, Pixie Hollow was the most entertaining online game that Disney has created, it did not only surpass the entertainment factor of Webkinz to me, but I also miss wasting half of my day buying clothes and playing games on there (lol). I love Disney, but I believe that if they had not shut down Pixie Hollow, more kids would be drawn their site, just like I was. Rest in peace Pixie Hollow!

I miss pixie hollow and after not playing for a while due to not having a computer anymore but now I am able to play, I got the ds game and tried to connect it. now I find out it got cancelled .. how saad 🙁

its been a year (almost two years) since pixie hollow closed… brings back many memories when typing pixie hollow in the search bar… ♡
and you think Disney should use their on money to bring it back because……………………… ?? Are you prepared to pay for a full membership , are “all” of your friends. PH was a fantastic game years beyond its self and to bring it back on the level it left at or better would cost even more than it did back in 2007. I really can’t see Disney sinking that kind of money in a new Pixie Hollow a second time. Disney if it did bring it back would have to insure that everyone logging in would have to be some kind of paying member because non paying members is one of the reasons they cancelled it because it was bleeding money. So if you can get 10,000 people signing up to say we will pay for a membership then Disney might give some thought to bring back Pixie Hollow but at the moment its a dead issue with them. Screaming at them will serve no purpose except to make you feel better.
