Disney’s Pixie Hollow is No More
Blogging Disney has featured the world of Pixie Hollow on three previous occasions.
In August 2011, I blogged about the Disney Fairies Magazine and the Disney Fairies Fly mobile app: Tinker Bell and Disney Fairies Magazine.
In September 2011, I promoted the TV premiere and home video release of the Pixie Hollow Games movie with links to online games and contests. Pixie Hollow Games, Contests, and More!
And in July 2013, I gave a detailed review of one of my favorite Disney apps: Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique.

Fans of the Disney Fairies franchise have always known the world of Tinker Bell and her friends is more than just movies, magazines and mobile apps: it’s a vast multiplayer online universe where you can create your own fairy avatar, play games, design fashions and interact with thousands of other Tinker Bell fans.
Err, well…it used to be, anyway.
As it happens, Disney shut down the Pixie Hollow online world in September 2013, just two months after I raved about the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app (which I came THISCLOSE to spending real $$$ playing). But on September 19th, Pixie Hollow vanished, and along with it, the Disney Fairies Fashion Boutique app.

What about Disney Fairies Fly and the Disney Fairies Magazine? Are they still around? Nope. All gone. Poof. It’s as if they never existed.
Of course, Disney can delete Pixie Hollow from the internet and remove the games from the App Store, but my blog posts are still online. I didn’t even know Disney purged the Disney Fairies universe until I received several comments from readers who couldn’t find the Fashion Boutique in the App Store. The comments were from angry Fairies fans who loved the fashion boutique app but couldn’t download it on new devices and were unable to recover the game after accidentally deleting the original download.
As a Fashion Boutique fan, the frustrations of other gamers inspired me to investigate the vanishing app. The internet isn’t always the easiest place to find things that no longer exist, but after a fair amount of Googling, I found an FAQ explaining Disney’s purge of Pixie Hollow and its related apps.
Unfortunately, the FAQ page is a JPG image, making it inaccessible to screen readers and devices without image support, and the text can’t be read and indexed by search engines. To help the distraught Fairies fans who come to Blogging Disney looking for answers, I’ve copied Disney’s official FAQ below.

Please don’t ignore us. Bring back Pixie Hollow, please. Even if it means getting rid of Club Penguin. Considering how much I loved Pixie Hollow, I decided to try Club Penguin. When I tried Club Penguin, I was extremely disappointed because thinking it would be an improvement from Pixie Hollow, it wasn’t even close to how amazing Pixie Hollow is (or was). When I played Club Penguin I was treated very unkindly and there was no detail whatsoever. Pixie Hollow made me so happy because I would get to be in a world of my own and get to be myself. Club Penguin doesn’t offer anything that Pixie Hollow and I would take Pixie Hollow over ANY OTHER Disney game.
Ever since I was about 6-8 years old I have loved Pixie Hollow and I still do even though I can’t play it. I’m speaking for many people who want it back, there are so many people who loved Pixie Hollow and still do. A lot of the people who played Pixie Hollow have been playing for a very long time, like since they were little. Not only do little kids want to play Pixie Hollow but teenagers do too, and I’m one of those teenagers. Please put Pixie Hollow back online, it was my favorite game. I know that Disney had “reasons,” to take it off but a lot of people were extremely disappointed. I loved Pixie Hollow, I remember I made a friend who would play with me every chance we got to. I miss pixie hollow so bad I played it since I was 13 it been over a year since its been gone and no other games are as fun or as good as pixie hollow was I fly wish it was back up it was safe and no one cud b bullied or spyed on or stalked on it. it was the perfect game in 16 now and I rly miss it I will never be too old to love fairies no matter what!!!! Please bring back Pixie Hollow! I enjoyed playing in the virtual world with friends! Many others on this site have begged you people to bring Pixie Hollow back. People all over the entire world loved this virtual game! What I enjoyed was the costumes you could wear and the different ideas your industry made to make a creative site for kids and teens. Yes lots and lots of people love Pixie Hollow and the many non members was an issue as there were too many of them. Disney did say they could have handled it better but when you allow people to join with out paying you create more problems. There are other issues at play here some of which we may never know as Disney does not explain themselves. Plus all of what was PH has more than likely been deleted by now as it would cost money to keep valuable serves running with all the old Pixie Hollow on it. Those servers may have been rented so Disney would have cancelled that contract to free up money. We all tend to avoid the fact that Disney is a business with share holders and they do what they do to make money, magic is all very fine but someone has to pay for it.
STILL, THEY SHOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT PEOPLE LOVE PIXE HOLLOW AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL PROBABLY GET MEMBERSHIPS! >:(
Magic is one thing and profits are another and usually the two are not compatible. Most of the time profits or lack of usually win the day. You don’t expect Disney to run PH at a loss do you ? If I were a share holder I would want to see the profits go up not down.

I would go to the Queens Boutique and marvel at the beautiful dresses. The Pixie Post Office was always fun, you could buy an outfit and send an extra to a friend! Though they changed it so only members could send an extra to a friend, but it was okay, a little disappointing but it was fine.
I would go to Cassies Costume Shop and try on the costumes. I would play Firefly Light Up and Vidia’s Daily Spin. I would go to The Bakery and get a cupcake with special effects. I would go play The Racing Derby with friends. I would go look at the pets in The Pet Shop.
Pixie Hollow was all around a fun game. A great game. I am sure many people would be thrilled if Pixie Hollow would come back, myself being one of them. I really wish Disney would keep the good games and pitch the stupid ones. (Like Club Penguin, seriously nobody goes on that) They’d be making a lot of people happy. Who cares about the money anyway? Isn’t one’s happiness and joy more important? Is the reason for closing down a great game like Pixie Hollow just so they can concentrate on the little stupid games?
I’m just trying to say: I really miss Pixie Hollow and I wish they would bring it back. I miss my home. I miss my friends. I miss my red T-shirt I worked so hard to get. And above all, I miss my sparrowman.
Please, bring back Pixie Hollow.
How do I begin to explain how devastated I was and still am when Pixie Hollow closed. Let’s start at the beginning.
When I made my account I was just a little sparrowman, an insignificant and unsuspecting sparrowman. I would play games to level up so I could get diamonds, once I got enough diamonds I would go to Shelly’s Salon and get a haircut. That was always my first priority.
I remember I would go the the Garden Shop and buy those cool seeds that grow clothes. Me and my friends would sing to eachother’s plants for the bonuses. What would grow from the seed was a mystery, I remember I really wanted this red T-shirt with a green outline of a hawk. And when my plant grew I got the shirt! I wanted I was so happy, I also got a red wrist cuff as a bonus.
I used to fly around Pixie Hollow looking in shops at all the cool member stuff. I never was a member. (Aside from that last month Pixie Hollow was open) Sometimes I was even an outcast from the member parties, but I was okay with that. I remember the party games: Pass The Popcorn, Rock Paper Scissors, Tea For Two,
Omg, I am crushed to see Pixie Hollow gone, and quite angry. I really loved Pixie Hollow, even though I was a noob with a free account. I really loved how you could dress up your fairy or sparrowman, I really loved how you could chat with other Pixie’s, I really loved how you could play games and make friends, I really loved how you can decorate your home and throw parties. You can’t find any games like Pixie Hollow, it’s unique in it’s own way. I wish Disney would open it up again, they had a lot of fans who loved Pixie Hollow. Pixie Hollow was my childhood, please bring it back. 🙂

Naomi if Disney did bring Pixie Hollow back everyone here would register all over again. A long as PH could come back I would not mind at all starting all over again.
I was so disappointed when Pixie Hollow was closed! Being young, it was a bit of a shock to find out one of my favorite MMOGs was being removed from the internet! Not even the original games (Firefly Light-Up, Bubble Bounce, ect.) are available to play! I had spent 2 and a half years of my childhood dedicated to this site (I begged my relatives for memberships instead of tactile gifts), and even now, as someone in high school, I would play.
Pixie Hollow was a wonderful place. Disney made an executive decision to shut down the site. It’s very unlikely that they would go back on a huge decision like that. If they did, I would be one of the first people to re-register (unless they have the thousands of GB of player and login infomation saved somewhere, we would all have to (sadly) start fresh!)!
I remember taking some screenshots and pictures on my mother’s phone in the half-a-year buffer period before Pixie Hollow was shut down for good. I had them transferred onto my phone, and they’re sitting in a folder. April Diamondstream, Holly, and Ivy are there, as well as in my mind. The gems I spent in the Queen’s Boutique. The quests I completed. The items I bought and made. The live meetups with famous fairies. The tearoom. All of the memories are both amazing and heartbreaking.
I’m really disappointed that instead of posting the original games from around Pixie Hollow, there are a few based on their newest fairy movies and some I’ve never even heard of! Please, please, please, Disney: if you can’t bring back Pixie Hollow, make the games available for your former players to enjoy. We loved the original Disney Fairy Franchise!

Man, a bit before Pixie Hollow closed, I took pics of my fairy’s outfits (my faves n’ such). I also took pics of many of my friends’ avatars. I feel weird about that. Just now, I was editing files and folders I stored up, and I came across the folder having to do with Pixie Holow. I just looked at each photo and reminisced about my times in the game. Surprisingly, I almost automatically recalled many things about each photo. Going on a site for chatting with people of which I signed up in the summer of 2013, after PH closed, I told a few people a fake birthday. September 19th. During this time, also, I “accidentally” linked people to that petition for PH’s re-opening in some chats, wanting people to notice it before the mods deleted message(s) containing that link since outside links are forbidden. I kinda received many minor warnings from the mods. But, as I thought less of it, by December 2nd, my real birthday, I started afresh with a new account, attitude, and birthday. I very much miss Pixie Hollow. I originally played it when I was 7/8-ish, but gave up, being very pissed about those mini games. Also, not having membership that time frustrated me with those damn limits. This happened every so often when I thought that I was more grown up than before and that I can understand. This didn’t work out so well til I was 11. Later, after I turned 12, I begged my parents to grant me membership. This worked out well, and I bought many things after that (in-game). At times, I felt doubt and worry about my life and time because of PH. I ended up having existential crises and blank moments. Blank moments as in I’d just zone out of what I’m doing, and not be aware of what I’m thinking. I’d be looking at one thing, but not actually give thought about whatever it is. I still love(d) PH nevertheless. I still very wish that PH didn’t end. I’m not sure what I’d be like if it didn’t, but I actually don’t mind that it shut down. As of right now, I am 13 years old. Silly rabbits tricks are for kids. My dears I wish Pixie Hollow would return just as much as you want it. We should have heard something by now if it were coming back but I have heard nothing form nobody. There is not even any gossip going around about it retuning so I fear all we left is memories of a beautiful time. I have a few friends who worked for Disney and they still have working contacts and even they have heard nothing.

I miss this game so much :/ I’m 18 and I know I’m old, but ugh this game was the best. Not fair.
I’ve been searching around for any more info on if PH will reopen. What I found in the meantime, is that there is a Chinese version. There are videos on YouTube. It is not the same as our PH and very hard to figure out what to do as it is in Chinese. But at least I was able to make a fairy and fly around. The link is hua.61.com.tw. The best thing to do is watch the tutorials on YouTube that tell you how to create an account and how to get in to play. I spent a long time tonight to get in. I’m gonna try figuring out more tomorrow.
Hello Dawn Daisydew! It’s sad to see the link to the new article and that is a possibility as to why the Hollow closed. I have searched every once in a while to see if there is any word that it may reopen. That’s how I found your blog. You’re doing a good job letting others vent to wish Pixie Hollow will reopen. I wish it would too, but I think your right that it won’t. So sad.

I’ve been reading more of the comments here after I made my first post and it makes me miss The Hollow even more. I, too, cried when they closed it. Dawn, like you, I played it Beta for several months, but got bored and stopped. Then I remembered it again and got back in the game in October 2008. I’m sure I saw you around as I was friends with many of the “older, original” fairies. I flying Sugarlily around everyday so much. I had every badge but my Flitterific Bits of Metal and my Flitterific Personal Sewing badge. OH HOW I WISH WE COULD STILL FLY TOGETHER!!
I am a 50 year old female and played on Pixie Hollow everyday for 6 years as a paying member. I miss seeing my avatar Sugarlily. I miss her wardrobe and her house. I miss her pet bee. I wish they’d bring Pixie Hollow back.
